GoDJ Plus – A Mobile DJ System

JD Sound showed off this cool DJ controller at NAMM 2018 at their booth alongside the rest of their lineup, today we want to share with you some of the features this powerful package contains. It can be battery powered and has internal speakers (that bump loudly) so you could forgo an external speaker if you wanted; we’re not sure how loud the speakers are, it’s hard to tell from the video below but they easy enough to hear through the background noise at NAMM. There is also a dual touchscreen interface that allows for scratching, EQ control, and FX control in addition to choosing songs and other parameters. It has 2 outputs available (Stereo RCA out, headphone out) and 2 inputs (Stereo in, microphone in). Other features include:

  • Micro USB (for charging/PC connect), SD card slot
  • 16GB (14GB for music capacity, 1GB recording, 1GB system processes)
  • Continuously-playable for 12 hours with LCD light on, 24 hours with LCD light off
  • 3-band EQ adjustable by touchscreen, analog or crossfader
  • 16 backlit RGB pads for sampling, one shots, loops, or keyboard
  • Beat Sequencer: Editable Preset Pattern x 4 (16 steps x 6 layers); User Pattern Storage x 4, BPM Controller
  • Auto DJ: 3 type of settings – playing order, transition timing, mix style
  • Record up to 2 hours WAV format at 96 kHz/24 bit
  • Player: automatic synchronization (BPM adjustment and beat matching)
  • Playback: MP3, WAV and 96 kHz/24 bit WAV
  • Sort by file name, track name, or BPM – Alphabetical Search/Playlist/History

With enough memory and power for a daylong DJ set, intuitive controls for mixing plus finger drumming, and standard DJ FX (Phaser, Flanger, Delay, Filter, Roll, BitCrusher) this controller holds formidable ground in the market for Mobile DJs. It is worth checking out for those DJs highly invested in portability and ease of use; while it simply couldn’t stand up to the features offered by a CDJ and two decks, it isn’t directly competing for that demographic, as you can’t stuff a CDJ mixer in your laptop bag.

That being said, is it better than using your laptop and a small controller? You tell us! The GoDJ is priced at $699, learn more here on the website. Check out the video from NAMM below:
